A do-it-yourself dumpster rental can give you time to sort and load a cleanout or renovation at your own pace. It may suit you if you have help for lifting and want to manage the work yourself. The tradeoff is that you handle sorting, loading, and following the rental rules.

Know the price and included terms

  • Starting price: $515 for a 15-yard dumpster rental

  • Rental period: up to three days; each additional day is $15

  • Included disposal: up to one ton of approved debris

  • Weight above one ton: $275 per ton, prorated from the disposal scale ticket

  • Delivery and pickup: included within 25 driving miles of Fall River; farther trips are quoted by address

Plan before delivery day

  1. Choose a level, accessible placement area and mention narrow driveways, gates, overhead wires, or other obstacles.

  2. Decide where items will go and keep the delivery path clear.

  3. Check the prohibited-item rules; propane tanks are not accepted.

  4. Ask in advance about mattresses, tires, TVs, refrigerators, and dense materials such as concrete or dirt.

  5. Estimate how long loading will take so you can plan around the three-day rental period.

DIY loading is not the right fit for every job
